The 3G Meet

You know what’s nice? Having a nice peaceful meet where everyone just chills out and isn’t on high alert for dumb things. Bill had a great idea of organizing an invite-only meet to keep things under control and mutual and it worked out amazingly. I think this is what I’ve been longing for… I had been making myself believe that the bigger the meets, the better – and in some ways they are – we’ve gone through this rollercoaster ride of small meets to big meets to them dying out again, and last year we had finally gotten back to a super meet again and it was exciting. Whenever you’re at the peak of something, you always forget about the bad apples…

It wasn’t until yesterday that I realized it wasn’t about bringing out the entire city to a meet – it’s about bringing out the people that really understand what a car meet is. It’s a meet – not a show or rev competition. Good people, good cars, and a good time. I’ll call it the unofficial “3G meet” because that’s all we really need. Do we need 5G? Sure, but right now there’s highly researched evidence that it causes COVID and Autism so we’ll stick with what we know.

I mentioned yesterday a few times that it’s sad that it has to come to this, but as I was editing photos and just seeing the quality of cars and knowing the face behind most of them – it’s not sad. It’s actually pretty nice, and it was the calmest meet I’ve had in a long time – it brought me inner peace. LOL

Anyway, looks like this is how we’ll progress from now on. Random spots, random times, invite-only. Here’s some quick snaps… I haven’t busted my camera out for a loooooong time. I got most of the cars throughout the afternoon… If I didn’t, you know the reason…

Andrew Kwong’s (AKA my PC GOD/Creator) IS-F with his freshly kitted and painted Aimgain kit. The lines are subtle and blend in extremely well with the stock body lines – in person it looks fantastic. Sitting on the highly underrated Leon Hardiritt Jagers. God, I want to do a VIP build again…

Spencer Hogg’s Tacoma – he’s been decking this thing out weekly, it seems with his youtube video uploads. Digging the new Morimoto headlights on this.

Mike Salek’s new Dodge Viper. This brings me back to my childhood – Ricky used to be obsessed with these things and even to this day, it hasn’t aged one bit.

Awesome spread on the dash too. I love how some guys come to a meet, park and set up like they’re at a show. Minimal display but awesome to just walk around and check out.

Jack Connelly’s fairly new Soarer. I see he’s often acquiring all these bad ass JDM classics and fixing them up and this is one of them.

PSA for the Subie at Driven that one year that didn’t clean their wheels – come ask this guy. Yes, it’s still something people talk about. No, I won’t let it go.
