Down and Out: Justin Kan’s Acura TSX

There’s nothing better than a last minute shoot that turns into an excellent set of pictures…

After unsuccessful visits to Subaru and Toyota/Scion this whole week, I’m over trying to trade the LS. Instead, I’ll just sit on it and see if it sells privately. I’ve gotten a few bites here and there but nothing solid yet… But to be fair, I’ve only had the ad up for a week. I’m just an impatient dude trying to get into a new car! A big reason for me not just going to trade it in is because we still got a wedding to pay for and I’d rather not take a huge loss on the car if I can help it. If the car doesn’t sell, I’ll just wait on it until next year and start fresh.

Didn’t have many plans yesterday, but JC messaged me in the morning asking me what I was up to – I only had some errands to run otherwise I was free all day. Next thing you know, we’re shooting Justin’s slammed TSX and we got nothing but good shots. I don’t think I know anyone personally or locally for that matter that rides as low as Justin does without wrecking their shit. Hell, Justin can barely turn his car around a full 180 without doing a 10 point turn but it looks damn good while he’s doing it. He drives straight and still scrapes – I’m not even exaggerating lol!

The weather was perfect yesterday morning for the shoot. Just enough overcast and not too much sun. I thought that this would be a great shot to start off this post – rollers always makes panties wet. I dub this the Windows XP desktop shot. It so closely resembles it with the colours haha

Now we rewind back to the beginning of the shoot. We met in front of Royal Oak Audi. Like always – JC was the chase car and chauffeured us around.

IMG_0837 copy“Can we trade this in for that white A7?”

IMG_0839 copy

Justin arrived shortly after. He doesn’t have an exhaust but we knew he was coming because there was that uncanny noise of scraping we are all too familiar with… Except like I said – it’s all the time lol

IMG_0840 copy

Justin wiping it down quickly before we headed out.

IMG_0841 copy

And we begin… A familiar place from last year.

IMG_0847 copy

Love these wheels. I mentioned in my post about the beyond meet that these were originally my wheels from my Civic, which was then passed onto Corey for his Civic, then finally moved onto Justin’s TSX today. Still mint and still one of the best wheels ever.

That roll call.

IMG_0853 copy

So timeless looking.

IMG_0857 copy

Snapped a quick shot of the crew chillin while I do my thing. They were actually in the way for this shot…

IMG_0859 copy

After I got them to move out of the way LOL

IMG_0860 copy

The wheels fit so good!!

IMG_0865 copyDiana and JC making a cameo appearance again on the blog. I’m all about the behind the scenes shots… You’ll probably see more of these jabronis during my shoots.

IMG_0867 copy

Love the front end of Justin’s TSX. He recently purchased the JDM bumper for that grill and headlights. Worth it.

IMG_0874 copy

Back to front…

IMG_0877 copy

Another shot of his grill.

IMG_0879 copy

Shot of the back.

IMG_0881 copy

And a shot of the front. That’s like bagged height. lol

IMG_0890 copy

En route to the next spot.

IMG_0891 copy

A quick shot from shot gun.

IMG_0892 copy

Always gotta get an in-car shot lol

IMG_0899 copy

Another one of my favourite angles of Justin’s car. Just too good.

IMG_0904 copy

Perfect fitment – not too crazy, but just enough.

IMG_0910 copy

Another shot that I ended up loving. The TSX just has such a timeless look to it and it looks good from all angles.

IMG_0912 copyRear quarter shot. Love it.

IMG_0916 copyThis is where the magic starts and happens…

IMG_0971 copyThe shot from Instagram – I love the way Justin’s car looks rolling. It’s just way too good.

IMG_1009 copy

A side profile shot of him rolling static.

And here we say farewell. This shoot took probably about an hour or less – probably the quickest photoshoot we’ve done in a long time (or ever). And each and every shot turned out great – I needed something to inspire me to shoot again and thanks to JC for pulling us out and for Justin for coming out! Gives me some good content.

I might have some extra shots laying around that I’ll edit during the week if I have time and post those up too.

Enter: Tony Dinh’s Lexus IS350 – Part III

The final part for Tony’s IS350. If anyone knows me by now from reading my blog, it’s that I have a love/hate relationship with rolling shots. I love them because when everything works out perfectly, it’s a great way to end the shoot. On the rare occasion, I’ll get nada for rolling shots and it’s a total bummer sitting at home after the shoot and finding out nothing came out the way I had intended. Sometimes it just happens with bad lighting, traffic, lack of time, etc. However, that’s not the case this time – Tony’s car was fairly straightforward except for the fact that he has the deadliest combination of wheels to paint colour – dark wheels on a light car… But it ended up working nicely!

Overall – it was a fantastic photoshoot for the first one of the year. Looking forward to doing way more because I slacked uber hard last year until the last minute. Not to mention that everybody has something new for 2014 (it sounds like I say that every year – but it’s a good thing). I personally love the attention to quality that is slowly coming our way with people’s builds and it just makes me itch to photograph them all!

Anyways – huge thanks to Tony for coming out as soon as I had messaged him for this photoshoot. It’s a great one to add to the books.

Nice gold and red combo of the Junction produce Tsuna and Fusa.

IMG_0521 copy

Diggin the 3000K DRL’s on this too. It was always one of my favourite first mods on my cars as well.

IMG_0556 copy

Of course we need another ass shot! Can’t get over how well the lip and and trunk lip go together.

IMG_0570 copy

Light/Shadow shot right under the Bow.

IMG_0600 copy

Rollers!

IMG_0629 copy

This was a great shot of Tony heading into the core.

IMG_0616 copy

The lines of the IS at the front quarter all the way to the back are pretty close to the 08 GS. I also loved this shot because it showed how low Tony rolls on a daily basis.

IMG_0645 copy

Another with a more monotone look.

IMG_0721 copy

Downtown cruising. Peep the Calgary Tower in the back.

IMG_0737 copy

And after the shoot chillin.

IMG_0739 copy

I love the side profile of the LS with the long wheelbase. It just looks so ridiculously long hahaha

That’s a wrap for Tony’s photoshoot! Hopefully some good ones to come! Punit just got his air install completed by Jackie last night and we got a few more cars just getting ready now to do more shoots!

Rolling Shots: Team Silver

Last night I was editing some pictures of Errol’s S2000 to post up and that’s when Brad reminded me (complained) that I hadn’t posted the other rollers yet. I know I said I was going to, but I honestly forgot… Even after editing Errol’s pic because the rolling shots were in the same folder lol.

Anyways – I *THINK* that I subconsciously neglected to edit these mainly because I’m not 100% happy with them. The main reason being that the backdrop is really not that special and there’s random buildings and stuff that just suck. This would have been awesome if it was on the highway with mountains or something because the lighting was fairly good and it gives it a good night time feel, but maybe I’m just being picky… Perhaps we’ll do another shoot this year with some better planning. In any case, some may look familiar with a slightly different angle, but there are a few other ones that I left till now.

In case you haven’t seen it… Here are the two parts to their shoots:

Brad’s K20 EM1

Errol’s Amuse S2000

These shots were done a little earlier in the evening and you can see the sun setting in the back

I liked all of this shot except for the traffic up front. The rain clouds mixed with the sunset made for a great background.

From JC’s car… I was contemplating cloning out that Saturn but I didn’t feel the need to last night. Now I regret it. lol

Unedited Shots: Devon’s Honda Civic

Just another round of unedited shots! Not too many since I always post most of them and rarely remember to save some for future use… Anyways – this was during the 2012 season so it’s been a while since I shot Devon’s car. The worst thing about doing unedited shots is that it reminds me of the nice, warm weather and then I look outside to see shitty, cold, and snowy weather. It’s actually really depressing.

Anyways – the countdown is on till Christmas! It’s coming up fast this year and I’m not sure if it’s because I’m getting older and I’m not as excited as I used to be as a kid, or if I’m just so busy lately that I don’t have time to be excited. I think the only time I ever really think about Christmas is when I’m blogging about how close it actually is. My parents and sister booked their trip to Vegas from the 24-28th, ultimately leaving me behind because I have no more vacation days left… Not that I mind all too much, they deserve the vacation and we’ll just be celebrating Christmas a day earlier so it’s a win-win for all of us.

Other than that, there’s a few shipping delays with most couriers right now so my other two packages that I’m expecting probably won’t be showing up anytime soon… It’s in Calgary, but the delays will probably mean I’ll see it after Christmas. Bummer!

Anyways – I’ll see if I can find something cool to post before Christmas, but the blog usually dies around this time anyway because everyone is busy with their families. If by chance I don’t post anything before then – Merry Christmas to everyone! Hope you all get what you wished for! Especially if it’s car parts 🙂
