I finally said “F it” and went ahead and ordered the rear Mugen piece and I’m glad I did afterall. I was on the fence about it for the longest time because I wasn’t sure if I liked how it looked. Some pictures just made it look really gaudy and bulky and some just didn’t show how well it flowed, no matter how much I looked at it. At the same time, when I looked at the car from the side profile without the rear lip, it was missing something and didn’t flow properly… My OCD was getting hit big time LOL
Anyway, I ended up ordering from King Motorsports and they shipped it to me within a week. Super awesome service from them as expected. One of the other things I did in preparation for the rear lip is I added the red stripe back to the kit. I felt it would look weird without it and it complimented the front red garnish nicely. Not too much red, not too little…
Anyway, below are some quick unofficial pics because it’s been rainy and nasty all weekend… I might go out this week if the weather permits for better pics!
Thanos chin achieved.
I like how it continues the black downward and adds some continuity to the rear.
A closer look at it all.
The kit consists of 5 pieces. 2 white garnishes right on the backend of the wheel well, the 1 full black diffuser piece, 1 half black diffuser piece and 1 half of the black diffuser piece. The left/driver side is split into two for the piece that comes off for a tow hook if required.
A bit dirty in this pic, but I honestly can’t get enough… Just a few more pieces for the exterior to be complete for the most part!
The day has finally come!! And a whole month earlier than expected too! Ricky was initially aiming to release this on July 1st but I guess he was on a good grind and got it done a lot sooner than he thought. I’m super stoked to be able to share all his hard work with you guys.
First of all, I just want to give a huge thanks to Ricky for finally convincing me to do this. This was all Ricky’s idea and it’s seriously been in the making since the I had my FRS. He’s really been getting into video and the sad part is that he had quite a few videos of my FRS and then I went and sold it, so he never got a chance to finish it. With the CTR looking a little less stock now, he wanted to revisit the idea and start over. Typically, I’d be cool with it but he was trying really hard to convince me to add some of my own voice over in to the video as well. As you already know – I am cool with being on the back side of the camera but not on the other side… So putting my voice in a video was next level for me. LOL
He spent a lot of time convincing me of his vision of how he wanted the video to turn out and eventually I just caved and cursed him a million times and did it. He provided me with questions and/or thoughts to mull over and I answered them. I will admit that it’s a little weird to talk to myself but use a tone of voice like I’m talking to someone so that it sounds natural. Literally all I did was record my voice, handed it over to him and he did all the magic.
Seeing this video all completed with all the footage he captured paired with the music and the emotions it brings to me personally makes me super happy about how it all came together. He was able to bring how I feel about the blog to life and that’s important to me. This blog was never really meant to be about any “one” thing – it was and always will be a place for me to throw all my random thoughts and pictures so that anyone who cared to look or read about it could do so. More importantly, it will literally become an archive of everything awesome I’ve done and managed to capture and I’m stoked so many of you love following along.
I really really hope you guys enjoy the video – if not for my awkward voice over – then at least for the awesome video and music Ricky put together. He put a lot of hours into it and although it will be done for you in 11-ish minutes, I hope you guys feel the same energy I did when I watched it. Enjoy! Please leave some feedback if you have any comments!
Well, it seems like we’re in a never-ending series of filming for Ricky’s video lately… But I don’t mind! He’s getting a lot of good footage and this night was no different. We planned to go out in the rain to get some rainy shots and change the mood a little bit, and change the mood we did.
He had access to a rooftop that looked down over center street, so that was a perfect time to get some footage that you can’t usually get (unless you have a drone lol). Rooftop access paired with near-empty roads makes for some cool shots for sure. I wish I had my camera up there with me when we went to scope it out so I could show you… But I guess you’ll just have to wait for the video.
Derrick joined in that night as well to get some behind-the-scenes footage and some extra stuff that Ricky could use too. The more, the merrier! The only footage I got was when we were parked in Chinatown and they were getting some stills… That night was a wicked night for shots again with the dimly lit sky and the misting of the rain. It wasn’t too cold or too wet…
Ricky getting some footage at the back there. The hotel in the back made for some nice backdrop with the rooms lit up with a heart and a peace sign in the middle.
These shots are super awesome to me because of the incandescent lights and the blue sky.
Just random shots…
Tried to get a puddle shot but not enough water haha
Derrick getting some footage…
Here, Ricky was setting up for a really cool shot where the car disappears in the video. Hard to explain but you’ll have to see when the video is done. I got a little teaser of it and I think it’s so dope!
Last one for the night… The car acts as a model and as an equipment car! LOL
The final night of capturing footage for the video Ricky is putting together means the final night of capturing behind the scenes footage and spamming pictures of my car. Honestly, it’s been a little weird for me to be the one that’s not doing all the shooting and just standing around. It’s super cool trying to collaborate with Ricky on suggesting angles and stuff, but I’m just not cut out for it LOL. Angles that work well for video don’t work well for photos sometimes and so I just give up and let Ricky do all the work.
Last night was an interesting one to say the least – started off nice with a chilly wind and Ricky’s wife, Crystal, joined us to help with capturing rollers. At the end of the night right before we were getting ready to finish a few more rollers, their car battery died. Luckily, their friend close by came within 10 minutes with booster cables and we were on our way. Almost took an L despite the good shots Ricky was getting LOL
Golden hour as per usual.
Sunset was so good between the buildings… Except that car decided to park there and get in the way.
Got some Michael Bay-type lighting effects going on here too hahaha so cool
The last spot we had planned on hitting up was the library. Ricky had a set of spots listed out and we hit most of them. The library was a perfect last spot for us with a nice backdrop to boot. The architecture and lighting here is next level.
Decided to head up to higher ground to get some other shots. Not sure how I feel about this yet… The angle might be throwing it off but I also like the feel.
Ricky getting in the way… lol jk
Last shot while waiting for their friend to arrive with the booster cables. Ricky might be aiming to finish and release the video earlier than expected, so stay tuned for that! It’s been a sweet few days of recording and I’m confident he’s going to put it together nicely.
