Ryan O’Hara’s Honda Civic EP3: Version 21

Finally able to get around to writing this up for Ryan. I’ve had his pics done since the day I shot this a few weeks ago but always got pulled away from the write up every time I sat down to do it!

Just to clear things up, I put “version 21” in the title because it seems like that’s how many times he’s changed the look/wheels/color theme of his car. I just picked some random number that seemed suitable, and for those of you that know Ryan, you can probably sit back and think “yeah… 21 sounds right” LOL.

I think I’ve shot Ryan’s car during every single stage that it’s been through since I’ve known him. The first time I shot his car was when he was on Volk CE28N Time Attack editions (white with red lip), then I think was the Volk RE30’s in a dark gunmetal, not too long after that was the Volk SE37’s in bright orange, and now Volk TE37’s in mag blue. You can kinda tell that Ryan is a sucker for Volks (but who isn’t?) and has gone through his fair share of them. Each time, he’s changed up the color scheme slightly or added little accents here and there to offset the wheels and each time it looks great.

One of the best things about his EP3 is that not many people these days mod them anymore – it’s quite a rare sight to see. A few years ago, there was sort of a “boom” of EP3’s around the city and they were modded quite extensively but (in my opinion) not in the same finesse, care, and attention to detail as Ryan. Suddenly, now all I ever see is Ryan’s car if he ever chooses to drive it over his S2000. He’s been trying to sell it for quite some time now and will only let it go for the right price – mind you, Ryan is the first and only owner of the car and is probably one of the very few that have own their car this long and have babied it from the first day until now. Most owners give up on their cars after a few years – like me – and move on quickly. I can’t specifically state how long Ryan has owned this, but it’s a long ass time and it looks like he just bought it yesterday. So if you’re interested – hit him up.

Ryan’s car has gotten to the point where only little changes can be made now if he wants to make any at all, and I think he’ll agree. Different wheels, maybe a different color for his roll bar… You know, just the easy things to switch it up a bit. I call it the mini Odyssey because that’s kind of what it looks like, but cooler… If this is your first time seeing it, maybe you’ll agree. 🙂

dark wheels on a white car… hate shooting it. Love the combo. I think everyone who knows me, knows this.

IMG_4877 copy

JC’s mirrors are still clean from the last shoot with Jimmy. So no smart ass comment from me.

IMG_4878 copy

Scouting for some spots. It’s tough finding spots now on the whim because you’re forced to go to a familiar location and when you get there, you try looking for something different but it never works out! Hate it.

IMG_4879 copy

Justin joined us for a bit during the shoot as well.

IMG_4890 copy

As much as I hate dark wheels on a white car, I have to say that I think this is my favourite combo on Ryan’s car. It works really well and TE37’s have a soft spot in my heart.

IMG_4918 copy

IMG_4919 copy

JC Instagramming a shot. One of the funny things is that we kind of have an unspoken competition (although I’m calling him out on it now and I’m sure he knows it) with our Instagram shots. While I’m shooting, JC is usually running around trying to get a good shot on his phone too and he’ll end up posting the photo first. I’ll usually try and grab my phone out and take one and post it after the shoot on the way back home or something and we’ll compare to see who’s is better LOL. That’s why if you follow the both of us, you’ll see both of us posting something of the same shoot haha!

IMG_4921 copy

Close up of the mag blue TE37’s. If you remember the shoot I did of Eric Yu’s Civic Si last year, then you might remember these as Ryan bought them off of Eric when he parted out. Good pick up though and I’m glad they went on Ryan’s car.

IMG_4924 copy

So clean!

IMG_4925 copy

The JDM Ep3 projector headlights have always been my favourite part of Ryan’s car ever since I saw them in person in 2008 at my first DTP car show. What can I say – I like lights.

IMG_4927 copy

The back end of the mini Odyssey. Love the wing too.

IMG_4937 copy

IMG_4991 copy

IMG_4994 copy

Status seats + Willans harnesses paired up in the back.

IMG_5005 copy

Closer shot of the J’s Racing canards on the front to help add a little aggressiveness.

IMG_5007 copy

Another shot. Side note: Ryan’s headlights do this cool “oil slick” look more than all the other cars I’ve shot and I love it. Don’t know why… Just makes it look so cool haha

IMG_5011 copy

Side profile. This is why I love the mag blue TE37’s on his car. TE37’s just make everything so much better!

IMG_5017 copy

A nice close shot of the carbon on his wing.

IMG_5023 copy

Status seats – again, not something you see everyday… A little different than the Recaro/Brides you’re so used to

IMG_5028 copy

IMG_5029 copy

Closer shot of the carbon kevlar weave in the seats.

IMG_5032 copy

Getting ready for rollers!

IMG_5051 copy

Just one I took off the camera with JC’s still in it. Thought it was cool.

IMG_5111 copy

And one last one with the awesome sun on the bridge!

I guess we’ll see which Volk’s Ryan is going to get next year… I’m going to put this in as a placeholder so I can reference it when it does happen – but I’ll say ZE40’s. LOL

My First 2013 Beyond Meet…

Last night was the usual Beyond meet on the upper parkade of Chinook Center and I was bored so I decided to come check it out. It was my first time out in almost a year, and the last time I was out was back when I still had my STI. To be honest, I personally wasn’t a fan of going anymore just because it started to get kind of cliquey. Not that people are trying to do that on purpose or anything, it’s just how meets usually end up being. People gather in circles and it’s tough for newcomers or other people to join in. The turnouts were also pretty small – usually there would be a full line of cars, and now it seems to have doubled!

It was an exceptionally good turnout last night and lots of different varieties of cars. That’s something that I enjoy seeing and I think it’s even more refreshing because it’s been so long since I’ve been to the meets. Met lots of new peeps, saw some others that I haven’t seen in a long time, but overall a pretty good night. I know they hold the super meet every year so I’ll most likely make my way to that one as well since the turnouts are usually pretty big and include a lot of cars you don’t necessarily see all the time.

Moving onto some of the pics that I got that night. I know later on in the night, some other guys showed up but it was pretty dark and I had put my camera away.

Starting off with Rich’s WRX. Not even a week since I shot this and he’s already on different wheels. What a guy.

Ryan O’Hara’s EP3 looking clean as always.

Corey O’Hara’s new project S2000 – you might remember seeing it at the show & shine.

Alex Markovic and his immaculate Integra also showed up last night. Shoot of this coming soon to a lifewithjason near you.

A pretty clean BMW 1-series on WORK M1R’s. A little drop and it’d be set!

Ryan Tsang’s Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

Jackie Tong’s NSX on some good ol’ Advan RS’s – you probably know by now, but if you don’t – he’s the owner of Zero Limit Automotive.

Steve Chan’s Mugen RSX slammed on mag blue TE37’s

A shot of Regina George. Picked the shittiest parking.

A very clean 7-series. All it needed (and it was screaming for it) was air suspension and a better non-BMW park job. It would have easily been the sickest car at the meet last night (for me, anyway) if it was just dumped and sitting on the ground in a proper parking stall. The colour was fantastic as well.

Justin Kan’s dumped and static TSX on Enkei NT03+M’s

Brad Atkin’s K20 EM1 on nicely contrasting orange TE37’s. Brad – give your keys to someone so I can shoot this.

Errol Tan’s Amuse S2000. Errol – take Brad’s keys and get someone to drive your car so I can shoot both of them.

Adrian Perry’s boosted B18 EJ1 on some new shoes! Volk CE28’s. I believe he’s still on the fence about swapping them but I get the feeling it’s going to happen.

Alex’s Integra looking clean as usual. There’s just so much to say about the car… I’ll save it for the shoot.

A GTR that is apparently pushing upwards of 800+ hp? I didn’t confirm it, just what I heard. Still clean though and in great condition.

Ray Dumitrescu’s STI Sedan on WORK M1R’s.

SO CLEAN. Didn’t see the owner though…

Noel Egger’s S14. I think he had an issue with his hood and hasn’t been able to get it fixed yet so he rolls without it. Still looks sick.

Derrek Poyntz’s super clean Integra.

A wild R32 suddenly appeared.

A pretty cool FD RX7. The aero/styling is very 90’s but it still works pretty well today.

A minty convertible S13

Simple Evo X on RPF1’s

John King’s JDM front end conversion CSX. I still love this look.

Kyle Hugo’s EK on Regamasters

A dumped Saturn. This thing is crazy and it might not appeal to everyone, but he did a pretty good job.

Anthony’s special edition Scrion FRS. The “Silver Ignition” colour is probably the nicest colour for the FRS. It’s got a few extra bells and whistles that the regular FRS doesn’t have like the HID headlights and LED DRL’s. Good job Scion.

Derrick Ho’s Integra. It’s shouldn’t be news to any of you anymore. Good to see him out and about.

A rear shot of Errol’s Amuse S2000

JC’s Lexus CT200h – again, clean as always.

A very clean and awesome BMW on Rotiforms. I think upon closer inspection…

It’s an M3 engine swap? Not sure… Feel free to correct me.

A shot of some asses.

A rear shot of the 7-series. So sick. However, I’m sure the 20 minutes of idling was unnecessary…

A shot of Adrian and Alex’s cars together…

Alex’s rear window rollcall… I particularly liked the “noooooo monicaaaa!!!” one. hahahahahaha

Duncan Yu’s boosted civic.

I’ll end the post here with a shot I took in the corner of the Prius and the longest fucking car ever and the rest of the peeps in the background!

Honda Mondays

It’s that time again. Let’s revisit Ryan’s EP3 – a car that he’s been working on for a looooong time. I *think* he purchased it brand new or close to brand new years ago and it’s come a long way with many different stages – namely wheel changes. I shot these about 2-3 years ago and now he’s on Volk SE37’s in orange. Either way, his Ep3 is probably the cleanest in the city and incredibly immaculate in condition.

The reason I decided to re-edit Ryan’s photos from years ago was because I saw on his Instagram that he was thinking of selling it because he was bored of it. I give him props though because I got bored of my cars after 2 years lol. It would be sad to see this one go though since it has been around since the beginning. Whatever the choice, I’m sure Ryan will continue on with a new platform just as well.

IMG_1785 copy

On Volk CE28n’s with the white time attack colour. At the time, he was one of the first to cop these and it was all the hype. IMG_1790 copy IMG_1801 copy IMG_4995 copy

I believe this was a year after the CE28n’s and he moved on to the limited formula silver RE30’s. Still looking great.IMG_4998 copy

This was probably my favourite wheel of all the sets he’s owned. It worked nicely – both colour wise and design. IMG_5026 copy

Last shot I had before he moved onto the orange Volk SE37’s. I swear I had shots of them, but I guess I only had rolling ones. Volk fanboy for real.

The Ultimate Random Throwback Post

Like I said earlier, I was going to go through all my pics and just edit random shit where we’re hanging out, installing things, going to meets, doing shoots and everything that’s just not really formal. I feel like besides the posts about my own car and its progress, all you really get is shots from the shoots I’ve done. It’s a lot better when you can just look at pics that were taken for fun. For some of you guys – those that are part of some of the pics – it’s good for memories to look at how our cars used to look, what we did and we can even say we regret some of the stuff we’ve done. At the end of the day, I’m glad I got the pics I did that show us just having fun – that’s the main reason we all look forward to summer so much.

Keep in mind – NONE of this is really in a chronological order – batches of the pics will have been taken together, but it would take forever for me to put all this in the proper order. We’ll be jumping anywhere from 2008 all the way to 2012. The main point of this post is just to randomize the throwback and go through all the things we’ve been through since I really started picking up the camera and taking pics of cars. I’ll try my best to explain each batch as we go…

Let’s get started

IMG_0772 copy

The night we shot Darren’s RSX – a rainy and gloomy day, but an awesome shoot.

IMG_0773 copy

BTW this was back when I still had the Civic. Man, that was its prime right there…

IMG_0852 copy

Like I said, the times we just get together and do random things are usually the best. I’m sure everyone reading this that shares the same passion can agree. We were installing Barb’s coils this day. Some of you might remember my post of it.

IMG_0859 copy

Sharing the heater…

IMG_0863 copyCheck out Punit keeping warm with the heat gun.

IMG_0869 copy

This is usually my friend whenever we go to Rich’s. Every time we go there, it’s cold for some reason…

IMG_1435 copy

Fast forward a bit more and this is the day that Ricky picked up his SSR SP1’s after a long wait. Just in time too!

IMG_1440 copy

Derrick also came by – I can’t remember why… but we ended up sanding Ricky’s engine cover and repainting it.

IMG_1450 copy

Here is the day we braved the snow storm in the beginning of 2012 to make the 3 hour drive to Edmonton for the season opener meet. A lot of us were supposed to go but they chickened out because of the snow. It ended up being an awesome short day trip.

IMG_1451 copy

Punit showed up…

IMG_1456 copy

This was some of the ride.. It only lasted for about 45 minutes… slow driving and drafting behind big trucks helped lol

IMG_1459 copy

Cleared up and we were good to go.

IMG_1466 copy

Stop at gasoline alley to take a washroom break.

IMG_1470 copy

IMG_1471 copy

IMG_1554 copy

When we got there, the weather was awesome. We made a stop at iHop for brunch.

IMG_1556 copy

We “heard” there was a BBQ at Speedtech Edmonton – we made the trek there because we got lost on the way so many times and there ended up being nothing. That, or they didn’t like us… haha

IMG_1574 copy

This is where Daniel and Isaac invited us to their shop and let us wash their cars VIP style… This was the best part of that trip lol

IMG_1590 copy

IMG_1607 copy

IMG_1643 copy

IMG_1644 copy

Derrick somehow hit his head on his trunk and got this huge ass bruise. He blamed it on me for some reason…

IMG_1653 copy

The awesome group shot we were able to get with the help of a super high ladder. I hate heights so this was scary as shit.

IMG_1729 copy

A bad ass burnout as this guy was leaving the meet… pretty random, but this car was rad.

IMG_1767 copy

Gas fill up on the way home. Gas station pictures are always, I repeat – ALWAYS sick. lol

IMG_1826 copy

The day Ricky took his car home after installing his ballin’ air suspension.

Accuair e-level…

IMG_1861 copy

Oh look, Boo decided to use his face to clean the exhaust openings of my bumper. How kind. Gopesh approves

IMG_1873 copy

Installing my JDM brake light… lol it actually didn’t take this many people, but it was faster.

IMG_1927 copy

Installing Gopesh’s APR exhaust… this thing was a pain. But once again – teamwork.

IMG_1930 copy

Prashant was up top installing the APR intake.

IMG_1998 copy

Summer 2012 – good days…

IMG_2058 copy

I think this was 2010 track days when Race City was still open. Romel’s AE86 – still minty.

IMG_2059 copy

Peep Punit’s Integra – still on gold meisters. PS – those meisters are now on Diana’s Fit in purple… we’ll get to that soon.

IMG_2072 copy

The MR2 shot that made Speedhunters…

IMG_2340 copy

The random day we went to go chill at our chill spot and some random old guy wanted to use our phones. We all said no but I threw  Derrick under the bus…

IMG_2342 copy

Derrick is not impressed. LOL

IMG_2343 copy

A random shot I didn’t even know about until today haha

IMG_2563 copy

This was the day after we put Ricky’s SSR’s on finally. Played hookie and we both called in sick to chill. One of the best sick days haha

IMG_2591 copy

Went out for a shoot too… Same location I shot my LS a few days ago.

IMG_2653 copy

IMG_2696 copy

IMG_2697 copy

Chillin’ in the sun… This was the day JC got his VS-XX’s on and we were waiting for him to wash his car.

IMG_3889 copy

IMG_3986 copy

This was the night that Diana took her Fit home for the first time. We were out late and everyone came to gather behind Speedtech… I called Diana to come by to chill and we ended up test fitting Arif’s TE37’s on there.

IMG_3994 copy

So new.

IMG_3999 copy

IMG_4000 copy

Boom! They’re 16’s so they look kinda small on the fit.

IMG_4001 copy

Some JDM poses…

IMG_4007 copy

Still looked good though. White on white was nice. Diana was trying to decide which wheels to go with – I think the TE37’s and the Meisters were the two choices.

IMG_4011 copy

JC doing random shit.

IMG_4218 copy

A random day. Don’t even know what we did that day… but we cleaned our cars. Always a good time.

IMG_4221 copy

IMG_4222 copy

JC still on Rota’s. Glad he’s out of that black hole.

IMG_4332 copy

IMG_4342 copy

IMG_4352 copy

IMG_4681 copy

One of the more popular pictures of 2010. We got Jackie’s S2000 under the trailers – legit too. A lot of the under trailer pictures that you see are only the front part of the car because it actually doesn’t fit. I remember the cage and his wing were just cm’s away from hitting. This was shared on a ton of pages… still is today.

IMG_4706 copy

IMG_4737 copy

Another night – when Dal still had the Integra that Reggie owns now – recently featured on The Chronicles top ten Honda’s – we swapped wheels.

IMG_4740 copy

IMG_4745 copy

This was a FWD stagger – 17×8.5 +30 up front and 17×7.5 +40 in the rear. We ended up trading – my TE37’s for his J’s wing. That’s where that came from 🙂

IMG_5629 copy

The trip to Vancouver for DTP in 2011 I think. This was another awesome trip with a group of good peeps. Washing our cars in the outdoor car wash.

IMG_6545 copy

BOOM. I was actually surprised when I came across these pics. This was the day that Diana bought the Meisters off of Punit – he dropped them off and we test fitted them right after. Hard to believe that they were gold, especially after seeing them in purple for the last 2 or 3 years… Look at that droop. Holy shit haha

IMG_6550 copy

IMG_6953 copy

IMG_6965 copy

The finished product. The purple she ended up choosing was perfect. I’m guilty for hating on it at first… but it’s actually dope. I wanted to paint my meisters purple for quite a while…
