Driven 2016: Part 5

The last installment to my Driven coverage. Like every year – it’s been tiring, it’s been long, and it’s been fun. Even though it was an early start for the show this year, everyone came out with their game faces on and really helped put on a great show.

Thank you to all of you that have been sharing my posts, for sending me pictures (that I’ll post shortly!) and most of all, for enjoying them and tagging me in all your stuff. Most importantly, thank you to everyone for bringing your A-game to the show and making this even more enjoyable than the year before.

This post finishes up the rest of the full car shots that I was able to get and some detail shots I got while running around with my 50mm… Enjoy!

IMG_6882 copy

IMG_6795 copy

The engine bay shot of the STRD Civic… Monster.

IMG_6815 copy

Another shot of Giuseppe’s incredible R32. Seeing his car in pictures is one thing, but the presence that his car has in person is something else. It’s the only R32 that can get me moist – no homo, Giuseppe.

IMG_6892 copy

IMG_6893 copy

A really clean IS in the Legit Society booth.

IMG_6894 copy

Another clean widebody Genesis in the Legit Society booth. Everyone’s got bolt on fender flares and I’m over here like “why would I want to cover up those sexy curves?”.

IMG_6895 copy

IMG_6897 copy

R33 Skyline from Legit Society. Not the most popular Skyline chassis around, but it can look good if executed right.

IMG_6899 copy

IMG_6900 copy

I liked this Varis Evo. I feel like it needed a GT wing to balance out the front… But you know me…

IMG_6903 copy

IMG_6905 copy

IMG_6904 copy

Kelvin’s 240SX on white TE37’s. My fave.  IMG_6906 copy

Brandon’s RSX-S on white TE37’s sitting right beside Kelvin’s. Twinsies… Brandon’s RSX-S is exactly how I wanted to build a RSX back in the day. Black with white TE37’s.

IMG_6909 copy

Another shot of Dicken’s Evo X. Great colour combo.

IMG_6910 copy

IMG_6913 copy

Romel’s Celica. God this thing is so clean… Every time I see it, it’s under a car cover tucked away in the corner of the garage with body panels and stuff all over it. Then once a year, it comes out looking like mother fuckin’ Beyonce and shits on the show. Peep his new TRD aero jacket addition up front. JDMMMMM

IMG_6914 copy

Benny’s F20 swapped AE86. Looks exactly the same from the day I shot it centuries ago… I wouldn’t have changed a thing anyway. Perfection.

IMG_6915 copy

IMG_6916 copy

Ricky’s GTI slammed on SSR’s in Spectrum Silver. It’s a shame that they can’t shine like they should indoors. The colour is still one of the best.

PS: did you know – days later, Ricky found hundreds (if not thousands) of baby spiders in his wheel well? Fucking NASTYYYY. It’s for sale now (I’m making the executive decision for him).

IMG_6917 copy

Some shots with my 50mm… Trying to be artsy I guess.

IMG_6918 copy

Can’t forget about Rich who dropped beats all day long. He even took my request to play Clarity. You must always play Clarity at a car show.

IMG_6922 copy

R34…

IMG_6924 copy

ZE40’s… Face 4… Yum.

IMG_6926 copy

Trung’s S2000

IMG_6927 copy

Craft Square

IMG_6929 copy

More ZE40’s on Jimmy’s M3

IMG_6933 copy

JC and Barb manning the table. Remember – all proceeds (100%!) go to Red Cross!

IMG_6935 copy

Rich AKA Candy Boy.

IMG_6936 copy

Josh’s slammed A4 wagon. I absolutely love Josh’s car.

IMG_6938 copy

Meisters are perfect for this set up.

IMG_6942 copy

Arif’s colour matched fender cut outs.

IMG_6944 copy

Eric’s S15 static on Work T7R’s

IMG_6945 copy

Dat fitment doe. #stancenation

IMG_6947 copy

BBS

IMG_6948 copy

Rotiform

IMG_6951 copy

Yes, you saw above…

IMG_6949 copy

Mugen intake

IMG_6952 copy

Awesome detail all around in this AE86

IMG_6953 copy

IMG_6959 copy

GT wings!!!

IMG_6961 copy

Rocket Bunny. I absolutely love the 350Z and RX7 kitted with RB.

IMG_6965 copy

Whoa. I literally just surprised myself as I scrolled through and saw this pic. I don’t even remember taking this – I didn’t really take as many shots as I should have of my own car… I love it because this is as black and as shiny as it’ll ever be.

IMG_6966 copy

Punit’s GS450H

IMG_6968 copy

Can’t forget about JC’s table set up. Not sure if you guys were able to go around and see it, but this was my favourite table set up from JC so far…

IMG_6970 copy

Sapporo beer and Pocky…

IMG_6971 copy

With some Sushi to go with it. Perfect!

IMG_6972 copy

What Rota’s? NO ROTA’S.

IMG_6975 copy

Nostalgic Hero slap on Benny’s AE86

IMG_6976 copy

IMG_6977 copy

Rear shot of the Honda Beat. Peep that titanium exhaust.

IMG_6981 copy

Alex’s engine bay. Impeccable attention to detail – if you didn’t know, you could easily walk right by all the beauty that is contained in here…

IMG_6983 copy

If you looked closely, you could also see all the Mugen bolts holding everything together. Hell, there are Mugen bolts where you can’t even see them.

IMG_6985 copy

Another shot of that wet wet.

IMG_6987 copy

Another shot of JC and Barb.

IMG_6992 copy

This one is for Errol. A shot of Dannie Riel with my creeper lens…

IMG_7005 copy

IMG_7011 copy

Barb made me grab my perv lens btw so that we could go and get some pics of the bikini competition. We ended up getting there too late and I was all the way at the back so I didn’t get much. But here were the top 3. Sorry guys, no body shots…

IMG_7018 copy

Back to the RB 350Z. Beautiful…

IMG_7019 copy

And a rear quarter shot of the RB RX7

IMG_7022 copy

And one from the front. It was a tight space to get a good shot but it is also worth noting the awesome paint job from Nick Prah once again here…

IMG_7025 copy

One more of my whip.

IMG_7026 copy

And the last few pics on my camera were at the request of Arif. He specifically asked that “lifewithjson guy with no A” to come take some extra shots of his car… The sun was shining through perfectly so why not?

IMG_7028 copy

IMG_7030 copy

A better shot of his new J’s hood.

IMG_7033 copy

And voila.

We are finished!! I think I have just a few more things to post from Driven that isn’t as pic heavy, but those will go up shortly. Thanks for tuning in!

Driven 2016: Part 4

And the show goes on!

I have one more part after this before the show coverage is all done. It’s sad that it comes and goes so quick… I apologize again that the pictures are all over the place. Blame WordPress (and maybe my genius idea to edit and upload in batches). Never again.

I will say though, that after going through all these pictures I’ve enjoyed looking at all of them. The quality of cars has gone up immensely and I truly mean that. If you do some digging to years prior, you might find me going on about how I really wanted the quality of cars to be better and that it was so lackluster in the sense that quality was so far and few between. I love, love, love that people are paying more attention to quality parts and work – at the end of the day, that is what stands out and that’s what gets you points, or awards, or recognition – whatever it is you’re looking for. If it’s not any of those, you can still assure yourself that you’ve got good quality parts with peace of mind and at the very least, you’re supporting good companies.

But I digress… Here we go

IMG_6813 copy

Over in the VEX booth, a familiar and clean RX7

IMG_6714 copy

Noel’s wicked S14 on Work VS-KF’s. He had to take his bumper off to get in here… lol

IMG_6718 copy

A quick shot of his engine bay up close.

IMG_6715 copy

Dicken’s Varis-fitted Evo X on bronze Volk TE37’s. I love this combo so much. Again, maybe I’m biased because of the Voltex wing and aero… But I don’t care lol

IMG_6719 copy

Saw this couple and dude ridin’ dirty around the show in his Audi R8. I’m sure he was mean-mugging me cause he caught me slippin’… Thank god the shade was covering his face. LOL

IMG_6721 copy

IMG_6723 copy

Ricky’s GTI still looking clean as ever. Still probably one of my favourite GTI’s out there. I loved all the aero additions – most usually stay with stock body panels so it’s rare to see this. Ricky also had a JDM influence on his car as well which gets bonus points in my book.

IMG_6725 copy

Alicia’s Golf.

IMG_6726 copy

Alex’s other other other car. I’m not sure which is his daily anymore… But the bronze ZE40’s on blue look great.

IMG_6728 copy

Ryan’s Ferrari F355 on Meister S1R’s. Awesome combo.

IMG_6727 copy

One more…

IMG_6732 copy

Leather Recaro pole positions inside the ‘Rari

IMG_6729 copy

Gugliano’s Civic – nice to see it come together. I followed his build thread on Beyond for quite a long time now and it looks fantastic.

IMG_6731 copy

Lots of in-house work done by him and friends.

IMG_6735 copy

Bad ass Chevy.

IMG_6737 copy

An interesting site to see for sure. A bagged Lincoln… not my first choice of cars to mod, but cool nonetheless.

IMG_6741 copy

Matte red Miata

IMG_6744 copy

Joe’s FRS in the SASC booth.

IMG_6745 copy

IMG_6747 copy

More trucks I know nothing about but would drive the hell out of. Even looking at it makes me want to be ignant. Too cool.

IMG_6748 copy

At the entrance of Driven was the Lowcals group. 4-door R34 – a much rarer sight to see.

IMG_6750 copy

Rob’s 240SX

IMG_6751 copy

I call this the DUB TL.

IMG_6752 copy

Jason’s wrapped BRZ. I understand he did this himself – nice work.

IMG_6757 copy

Spoon-equipped S2000. Rare to see this nowadays – I’m not sure who the owner is today, but it hasn’t changed much since Daniel Chan had it. Nice that it’s still in good condition.

IMG_6758 copy

IMG_6761 copy

Crazy looking GT-R with some massive Tomei quad exhuast tips, Swan neck wing, and Advan GT’s.

IMG_6762 copy

Reminds me of Dal’s old type R. Maybe this was built off of that as inspiration?

IMG_6763 copy

I thoroughly enjoyed this genesis. I’m not entirely sure which flares they are – I was thinking RB – but I think it’s missing the front bumper extensions. However, this sounded and looked good.

IMG_6765 copy

A wicked FRS with the Blitz front bumper and Voltex gt wing. Looked great!

IMG_6767 copy

And another FRS with a Voltex wing and Velox splitter.

IMG_6770 copy

Everyone in this booth seemed to have ordered a GT wing and got it at the same time. (You’re all from Edmonton right?) haha

This IS was sick.

IMG_6772 copy

Classic…

IMG_6775 copy

M3 Coupe on TE37’s

IMG_6777 copy

I almost didn’t get a picture of this booth because there was a gangbang of people just standing in front eating pizza. You’d think the entrance to Driven would be a good spot, but sometimes it’s not…

IMG_6780 copy

R33

IMG_6782 copy

ANOTHER EP3 other than Ryan’s!? This one a lot simpler – bronze CE28’s and Spoon brakes.

IMG_6783 copy

IMG_6784 copy

That blue is way too nice.

IMG_6785 copy

Gabriel’s GSR.

IMG_6787 copy

Lots of clean engine work by Philip Tan and crew.

IMG_6789 copy

IMG_6791 copy

This was super simple, but very pleasing to the eyes. Face 4 brozne ZE40’s are lit. (First time I’ve ever said that, I swear).

IMG_6792 copy

Trung’s Voltex S2000. This area was super tight so I didn’t get too many good pics.

IMG_6794 copy

IMG_6798 copy

Super sick EK on black CCW’s from Speedtech. This thing pushes over 1000hp…

IMG_6803 copy

IMG_6802 copy

IMG_6806 copy

Brandon’s Evo X on Advan RS-D with Team Revere

IMG_6807 copy

I think this was the only 8th gen Civic there that day. Reminds me of my first year at Driven…

IMG_6809 copy

Jimmy’s M3 on new diamond dark gunmetal ZE40’s. Great color/wheel combo. This is still my favourite M3 body to date.

IMG_6811 copy

Lots of updates to Jimmy’s engine as of late… Not that I know any of it…

IMG_6812 copy

And ending this one here! One more to go! Stay tuned.

Driven 2016: Part 3

Part 3 here we go! Again, in no particular order… Sorry, I didn’t deliver last night like I said I was going to. I decided to spend the rest of the night editing all of the photos and I’ll have a post up every day.

Thanks to everyone that has been sharing and reposting the pictures! I’ve also got some of the photos you took of my car that I’ll post up later. They all look wicked! Keep ’em coming!

I’m also afraid that I may have messed up the pictures and missed some. I edited in batches and uploaded as I went. The media storage on WordPress didn’t seem to keep it in the order I uploaded it so it got all jumbled… There may be a chance that there are duplicate pictures across posts or I missed some altogether. Once I get all the posts up, I’ll go through them again to make sure.

IMG_6890 copy

STI in the Team Revere booth. I think more of their photos are coming up somewhere…

IMG_6830 copy

Then we loop over to the 51-one fourteen  booth. A familiar face here with the matte copper/orange wrap.

IMG_6832 copy

Interesting combo, but nice nonetheless on this 350z.

IMG_6834 copy

Aaron’s midnight purple R32 on bronze/bronze Meister S1 3PC. I’ve been watching this come together on the Gram as well.

IMG_6836 copy

Sorry for the super wide photos. This was a tight squeeze to get these in. Kay’s bagged R32 with the addition of a massive chassis-mounted GT wing. Bringing F&F back.

IMG_6837 copy

IMG_6838 copy

I remember seeing this Silvia last year – not usually a fan of all black – but I dig this.

IMG_6844 copy

Auto Dream’s boosted FRS. One of the first I remember seeing in the city a few years back.

IMG_6848 copy

IMG_6849 copy

Ah, back at the Team Revere booth with this G37

IMG_6850 copy

IMG_6851 copy

IMG_6853 copy

Ryan Lofgren’s extremely clean R32 on aggressive RE30’s in the VEX booth.

IMG_6854 copy

This went on to win best engine dressed. Neochro everything! Well done, sir.

IMG_6856 copy

A very aggressive FRS fitted with Velox and APR aero and Weds SA-72R wheels.

IMG_6857 copy

Super clean Cosworth Escort. A fan favourite…

IMG_6859 copy

The AE86 that won honourable mention Toyota (I think?). Anyway, this was the same car that won at the illmotion Show and Shine last year. Brand new OEM everything in this car right down to the seals. Looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.

IMG_6860 copy

A beautiful Datsun Z. I love these so much.

IMG_6863 copy

Curtis’s wrapped Silvia on an aggressive set of Work CR2P’s

IMG_6864 copy

Shane’s clean and boosted Integra – always nice to see.

IMG_6865 copy

Dustin’s S15 on Work Meister S1R’s. That silver shine…

IMG_6866 copy

One more with a better view of the splitter.

IMG_6868 copy

Sue’s classic ’67 Thunderbird in the ThreeTwenty booth.

IMG_6870 copy

White on white Focus ST hatch

IMG_6873 copy

Starting the Legit Society booth off with this dumped Evo X fitted with Varis aero.

IMG_6875 copy

Bagged STI on Work’s

IMG_6877 copy

IMG_6878 copy

Mannnn it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a sticker bombed lip.

IMG_6879 copy

Carlo’s updated WRX on TE37SL’s, Varis lip and Varis wing. Definitely feeling this look more.

IMG_6884 copy

Daniel’s S2000 on gold RPF1’s

IMG_6886 copy

Like I said… I don’t know a thing about trucks but I think these are bad ass lol. I can’t even imagine how much money is spent on the suspension parts for this but I wouldn’t even want to drive it… Way cool.

IMG_6888 copy

Peter’s TRD FRS sans the livery from last year. Still looking clean.

IMG_6889 copy

A sick sign with black stands. Just kidding…

This Evo was pretty clean with Voltex aero and Advan RS-D’s in the Team Revere booth.

IMG_6814 copy

Back in the Vex booth – an immaculate LHD Supra Targa on Weds wheels.

IMG_6816 copy

Probably my favourite of the show – Landon’s rocket bunny 240SX. The paint and bodywork was done by Nick Prah as well. Lots of good work coming from him – he’s got the Midas touch when it comes to making paint look wet. I just absolutely love the look of this.

IMG_6819 copy

Another angle…

IMG_6820 copy

Giuseppe’s infamous BIGNJPN R32. Still my favourite R32 to date – it is executed so well with a variety of parts that have been retrofitted to work with his car as if they were made for it.

You can see one of his biggest additions this year peeking through the wheels – Brembo BBK *heart face*

IMG_6822 copy

A few more shots of the RB 240. Just look at how perfect this is!!

IMG_6823 copy

One of my favourite parts is the carbon faded hood vents. Bravo, Nick.

IMG_6824 copy

Kaylee’s S14

IMG_6827 copy

Bill’s Focus Sedan going onto win Best Domestic Tuner. Well deserved. I loved the retrofit headlight addition!

IMG_6829 copy

Ending part 3 with this clean Supra from the 51-one fourteen booth again… I’ll hope to have part 4 up tonight or tomorrow morning!

Driven 2016: Part 2

Part 2 here we go!

We’re about 100 pictures in… I am trying to get about 50ish pictures edited at a time before my mind starts wandering off somewhere else. I’ll try to get a few more out tonight and get one more post in me before I call it quits today.

Ricky and I took a walk around taking some random snaps – maybe if I can convince him, he’ll give me his photos to post up on here as well. Our tactic this year was to start at the far end and make our way back. I was thinking that way we wouldn’t be too tired by the end of it… Didn’t work out so well lol! You’ll see I post, it gets busier and busier – originally I wanted to take all the pics before the doors opened. The bad part about it is that people were still cleaning and getting their cars ready so I either didn’t get a picture or never came back around at all. Sorry to those that I missed – again, tried to capture what I could.

Maybe it’s just me and my OCD, but two of my biggest pet peeves at a car show: mod list signs and doors/trunks/hoods all open. You just can’t capture a good picture while any of those are in play. It’s the worst.

IMG_6578 copy

Over in the Dub Dynasty booth…

IMG_6566 copy

And directly behind me in the Bag Barn booth – a bagged STI

IMG_6567 copy

IMG_6569 copy

Forgive me and my lack of knowledge on trucks. I just know they look bad ass.

IMG_6571 copy

IMG_6572 copy

A mint – not quite Tiffany – green R32. Interesting colour scheme – I dig.

IMG_6575 copy

IMG_6580 copy

A work in progress for the Dub Dynasty guys – Jesse has posting progress pics on Instagram for quite some time and it’s super cool to see it coming together. Last year it was a lifeless shell…

IMG_6582 copy

Now it’s got a heart and some pieces of legs…

IMG_6584 copy

Man, look how clean that rotor is. A lot – if not all – of the fabrication is done by Jesse and Mike. Can’t wait to see this finally come together.

IMG_6585 copy

IMG_6586 copy

Crazy, flared Focus on copper wheels. I thought it looked pretty good!

IMG_6587 copy

Hard lined trunk set up in the back.

IMG_6589 copy

Over in the Haute AG booth, STI hatch on Meister S1R’s

IMG_6590 copy

A supercharged G35. I recall last year when this in the illmotion show and shine, it was loud as hell. Crazy.

IMG_6595 copy

M3 Sedan

IMG_6597 copy

Race prepped Lexus GS. If I remember correctly, this was used as a drift car at one point. Maybe it still is… Haven’t seen much pictures of it as of late.

IMG_6599 copy

Daniel’s track ready M3 with Advan inspired livery.

IMG_6600 copy

IMG_6605 copy

IMG_6606 copy

IMG_6607 copy

Was digging this. Loved the facelift… I wasn’t a big fan of wagons until this year. If it’s done right, they look absolutely deadly.

IMG_6611 copy

Pretty nice colour on this wrap.

IMG_6612 copy

Sick Prius on Meisters. I wouldn’t have it any other way lol.

IMG_6614 copy

A very clean LHD Supra Targa on Meister S1 3PC in the Beyond booth.

IMG_6616 copy

Richard’s supercharged Mustang on bronze Works. Love the JDM + Domestic combo.

IMG_6619 copy

IMG_6621 copy

Jack’s LS-powered 240.

IMG_6622 copy

He recently got some work done by Nick Prah in the engine bay. Difficult to see, but absolutely flawess work by Nick, as expected.

IMG_6624 copy

Over in the 403Media booth, a wild orange, widebodied 350Z. I read a thread on this a few months back when it was still in it’s developing stages. Turned out great and super clean.

IMG_6626 copy

IMG_6628 copy

The first M&M widebody S2000 I’ve seen. I’m not sure how I feel about it, but cleanly executed overall. The color makes it look even more like a shark (not a bad thing). lol

IMG_6629 copy

I just feel like it needs a wing… But I’m biased…

IMG_6630 copy

Benji’s TSX back for his second Driven show in Calgary. The last time I photographed this was last year, a few months before he was crowned Tuner Battleground champion with PASMAG. I’m glad he still remembers me 🙂 (kidding, Benji)

IMG_6631 copy

IMG_6632 copy

Still looking clean as ever. I remember commenting how clean his front bumper is. He makes road trips all over the place and it’s perfect. I drive 30km a day to work and back and I have chips already. WTF.

IMG_6633 copy

I didn’t get a chance to take pics of many bikes… But this one was cool. Paint was awesome.

IMG_6635 copy

I loved this S2000 on mag blue TE’s with ASM front bumper. So clean.

IMG_6637 copy

IMG_6639 copy

The first RWB Porsche to come from Calgary.

IMG_6638 copy

One more. Very clean.

IMG_6644 copy

IMG_6647 copy

Aldo telling you to come down to Driven…

IMG_6648 copy

RC350 with the Rocket Bunny kit and TE37’s. Super clean in white.

IMG_6649 copy

Just needed suspension and it would have been money. In time, I’m sure…

IMG_6651 copy

Simon’s Rocket Bunny FRS – later going onto with Best in Show FRS/BRZ. Well deserved – I’ve watched this come together through Instagram as well. Lots of the work was put in by himself – good job! Simon was part of the Beyond booth and Arianny was pretty much right in front.

He later went on to ask her to take a pic beside my car for me (he knows Arianny and I are a thing). That’s the best award of the whole show! Thanks again!

IMG_6652 copy

One more shot. I love the wheels as well – I remember wanting a set when they first came out but had no car to put them on :(.

IMG_6696 copy

We were waiting around for Arianny and ended up only waiting for about 15 minutes once she arrived. (Not including the 45 minutes we actually waited around before she arrived LOL).

She wouldn’t really let anyone take selfies, so she took them for everyone. Whatever – just mess it up by looking at the screen instead of the camera instead, Jason. GOD.

IMG_6700 copy

Aldo getting in close, making sure he doesn’t have to wash that hand anymore.

IMG_6704 copy

Ricky respecting her arm space.

IMG_6706 copy

And one last one with me. Cause why not.

Part 3 later tonight, ladies!
