T1R Over Pipe & Front Pipe Install

*Mumbles under breath* Finally some car-related stuff…

I finally had like a free hour to go stop by Jackie’s shop and get the front pipe and over pipe installed that the guys and Diana got me for my birthday. The pipes have been sitting in my office for a long ass time and this was well overdue.

I really did only have an hour, or rather Jackie/Isaac only had an hour to install the pipes before we had to go and meet up with friends for lunch. So for Jackie and Isaac to get the car onto the lift and finish the install and then get it off again with no issues in an hour, that’s an A+ in my books. The reason I mention the lift is because it hasn’t been so magical getting on and off this thing since the kit has been on the FRS. Getting on is tricky because the front bumper typically clears, but as soon as the wheels are on, the sideskirts can fall on the angle – which they did the first time. The second time around, we watched the skirts but neglected the bumper getting off and so that got some contact. Needless to say, Isaac was petrified at the thought of doing it again… This time they found a way to get it on slowly but surely without any contact and I was on my way.

In all it’s non-existent glory.

For the most part, the car is neglected. I haven’t even washed it and it only gets driven to and from work. It doesn’t see weekends that much…

You can see a good look at the diffuser that I installed about a month or so ago. Adds a little bit of a finishing touch to the rear to compliment the wing. The underside of the car was lacking a bit before…

A shot of the stock front piping.

And a shot of the T1R power headers – still only a bronze finish since the car, nor the headers have been put through it’s paces…

Outside sat Isaac’s Amuse S2000 with a new Voltex wing to outfit the aggressive body.

And bronze TE37’s… How I still long for a set…

Jackie’s 4Runner – no stranger to most of you these days…

Punit made a guest appearance in his Japanese Ferrari – I haven’t seen this thing in well over a year I think… Of all the days he drives it, he drives it when it’s shitty out.

Still one of the best and cleanest looking USDM front Integras…

A shot of the rear of Isaac’s S2000. I love that bumper and exhaust set up. The wing suits it nicely… But I say that about anything with a legit GT wing on it.

Isaac making quick work of getting the front and over pipe in. Nice and shiny…

A somewhat unclear shot of the over pipe – it’s not really visible but it’s there.

And voila! A full T1R exhaust system is now in place on the FRS. I unfortunately didn’t get any sound clips – I should have in retrospect – but it is definitely louder than before. To be expected I suppose, but my neighbours definitely might have more to say about it.

I’ve been debating my next purchase – I think I’m going to be going with the OFT shortly here to make use of the full exhaust system and tune to stage 2 otherwise this would all be for naught. Part of me has also debated a cage but it would remove all practicality of the car – I guess it’s not meant to be practical – but in my defense, I’d like Aria to be able to sit in the back seat one day and a cage would make that impossible. I’m playing around with other options but I think to squeeze the extra 20hp out of the full system, the OFT is my next purchase. By way of the butt dyno, the car already feels a bit more responsive in the lower and mid end but that could be placebo or the louder sound that makes me believe that… Either way, a nice addition for sure.

If I Could Call it a Drink, Call it a Smile on the Rocks

I’m pretty behind on posts… To be honest, I completely forgot that I had taken pictures on Friday of some of my time at Jackie’s shop and then of JC’s grill install (hence the title of this post – courtesy of Diana lol).

It was about time that I had my oil change, so I stopped by Jackie’s to get ‘er done and took some snaps while I was there. Haven’t really taken pics so I’m a little rusty lol.

Jackie’s crazy track build. He acquired this bumper about a week ago – a custom, one-off bumper made from a Subaru bumper. The build quality of it is pretty legit and it looks absolutely crazy in person. It literally sticks out a good 15″ if not more. Not sure how he’s going to get up ramps LOL

IMG_5919 copy

On the other side… The car going up

IMG_5925 copy

Kinda liked this shot… The red and black worked way better than I had imagined. Glad I kept it red.

IMG_5926 copy

Some other detail shots of Jackie’s bumper.

IMG_5928 copy

The carbon is pretty good and well put together.

IMG_5933 copy

The canards molded nicely around the bumper. Very sturdy construction. Kudos to whoever made this. It’s super nice.

IMG_5936 copy

From the rear quarter of the bumper. Mad downforce.

IMG_5944 copy

Now some artsy photos while I waited…

Upstairs is Jackie’s previous set up for the ITR – a C-West bumper with Top1 canards.

Diana bored as hell lol

IMG_5963 copy

Next up we got back to my place and tackled JC’s new grill install. Stock shot here.

Bottom grill removed. Pretty easy.

Touching up some paint on the sideskirt. Shot courtesy of Punit lol

IMG_5974 copy

These locking star washers were probably the hardest part of the whole job. There’s no real way to actually remove it without ruining the tabs on the emblem. Gopesh managed to get them off pretty quickly and still got away with being able to re-use them.

A shot of the grill-less bumper.

The emblem goes back…

IMG_5992 copy

Comparison shot o the two. The difference is actually night and day when you see the two side by side. The old one was just really cheap looking. The new one brings a lot more character to the front and updates it with a newer look.

IMG_5994 copy

Top one installed in a jiffy.

IMG_5997 copy

Bottom one in. Cool shadow/light pattern of stars on the ground lol.

Boom. An updated front end – attention to detail is what matters the most!

Balance Auto Garage: Grand Opening BBQ

As per one of my earlier posts – Jackie had just moved into a new shop and is in the final stages of settling in. I know he’s been spending his days going to and from the old and new shop transferring truck loads of things. Jackie was gracious enough to hold a grand opening BBQ for people to just come and chill and check out the new digs. Seriously, if you guys are ever in need of anything automotive – Jackie is your go-to guy. He’s done a lot of work for all of our close friends over the last two years – things from air suspension installs, alignments, mount and balancing, to simple oil changes and maintenance.

This new shop is by far my favourite in terms of looks, general layout, and of course the location (for selfish me). Anyway, I took a few shots of the evening – it’s been a long time since we’ve had just a chill night.

Slurpees!

IMG_2329 copy

This should be no surprise to anyone that Trung’s car is still with Jackie LOL. Isaac’s LS swapped RX7 up front.

IMG_2330 copy

Meanwhile, on the upper level Rich is DJ-ing for the party.

IMG_2335 copy

Not too long after, Punit found the sound effect buttons and thought he could replaced Rich.

IMG_2336 copy

And then back to the lower level, we went to go sit and watch some 2Fast2Furious. Not sure what Gopesh is laughing about. But when you come drop your car off for work here, you’ll have the power of Netflix in your hands. No more of that awkward silence with other customers, or those boring magazines from 2002 – At Balance Auto Garage, Jackie’s got you covered.

Sick sales pitch, right? I do it for free.

IMG_2340 copy

Outside, Barb was in charge of cooking the mighty delicious burgers. They were so juicy that Barb apparently needed to support her spatula wrist with her left hand. That’s what I call determination.

IMG_2343 copy

Outside the shop – Steve’s RSX, Barb’s TSX, and Aldo’s S2000 lined up.

IMG_2345 copy

A little later in the evening, Clarence and Reggie showed up after a long trip over from Vancouver.

IMG_2346 copy

IMG_2347 copyIMG_2348 copy

Reggie’s Varis x Rockey Bunny is definitely a good match up.

IMG_2349 copy

Meanwhile, Clarance’s extremely aggressive Voltex STI and anime livery is definitely something worthy of neck breaking.

IMG_2350 copy

A shot of the front splitter and canards.

IMG_2351 copy

Out back, A Voltex Type 5V GT wing with custom wing stands.

Side note: I didn’t notice until I started editing but Steve’s car is the focus of the photo and not the Voltex sticker like I had intended. Makes for a cool reflection shot. Or I’m just a nerd…

IMG_2352 copy

Continuing the livery around to the doors.

IMG_2354 copy

More food inside the shop. You gotta have the Chinese food, man. It’s always a hit.

IMG_2357 copy

At that moment in time, I captured the looks of three individuals where their only purpose was to put something in their mouths.

IMG_2358 copy

Another view from up top. Most of the people were outside and I don’t know how because it was hot as F.

IMG_2360 copy

Cool shot of Trung’s S2000 from above. Can never get sick of that view.

IMG_2368 copy

We got lazy again and decided to chill in another part of Jackie’s shop for a bit to get away from the heat. It wasn’t too helpful since this room was hotter anyway…

IMG_2372 copy

Adrian was fixing up Jackie’s F40 Lego model…

IMG_2374 copy

Rich ended up playing only the best party song ever – Danza Kuduro. Aldo couldn’t help but run out and snap it while dancing. It truly is a good song though LOL

EDIT: I added a video of this at the bottom.

IMG_2382 copy

Another artsy shot of Trung’s S2000. The lighting was too good.

IMG_2384 copy

And finally – can’t forget Jackie’s 4Runner YOLO-ing outside the shop. He’s officially open everyone! Go hit him up. Tell him Jason sent you. 🙂

A super quick clip that I didn’t even edit (probably the 4th video I’ve ever made on my 7D) of the general vibe of the shop tonight. I just liked the song lol!

Also – for those of you reading: Remember to check out the illmotion Sunday School show tomorrow at Max Bell arena! Gonna be another awesome show.

Balance Auto Garage!

FINALLY I’m somewhat back. Sorry for the lack of posts lately – I’ve literally had nothing to post and no time to shoot. The past few DAYS have been go go go and honestly, the last thing I want to do lately is pick up my camera. In the past, all I wanted to do all summer is go out and take pictures of cars but being an “adult” means needing to do “adult” things and that gets in the way sometimes. We just finished the fence and now we have to do the lawn and all that other stuff so my weekends have been occupied a ton. We also recently got back from Mexico last week for Diana’s birthday so that was a write off as well. I’m hoping to have more content here soon though, since we are all leaving to go to Vancouver this weekend to just chill. I’m thinking there’s gonna be lots of pics and while we’re down there, I hope to get some pics of the BC talent too.

And just to further to that, there has been absolutely zero progress on my car. Nada, zilch, nothing. So there’s obviously nothing to update on and I’m sure you’d all get tired of just seeing pics of my car at different angles and no additions after a while so I’ve really just been chillin’. I have ordered part of my body kit for next year and I’m just shopping around a bit more for the rest of the pieces and I’ll be golden. Next year will be game time again so I’m super stoked – it’s scary that I’m saying this, but I’m looking forward to winter because that means it gets closer to getting all my parts onto the car. It’s a bittersweet thing, really…

Anyway, I promise to try to get on it after we get back from BC – I think everyone in general is just in a chill mood so it’s kept me really unmotivated. Thanks for those that have been commenting and sending me emails to get my shit together – I really do appreciate the support, even though it’s just little, old me doing this. I check up on the blog everyday and I wish I could magically post things but I’m coming up dry.

So to get this somewhat back in the game, I just wanted to share Jackie and his new shop – Balance Auto Garage – also getting back in the game. He left his origins (Zero Limit Automotive) a while ago and created a fresh start for himself again at a new location. This would be his third location and everywhere he goes, the rest of the scene up and follows him too. That’s the type of loyalty you get when you provide good service and quality work – it doesn’t matter where you are. I’m personally glad that he decided to move back north closer to me (I know – selfish :D), cause now I’ll have more of a reason to come and chill…
IMG_1542 copy

Outside the shop. It’s no longer A-United Transmission and that will all be changed soon as he is not officially opened yet. He’s still doing small side work in the meantime, but his grand opening is August 8th.

IMG_1560 copy

The shop front which is still under renovation since it was left in rough shape.

IMG_1563 copy

The back of the shop up on top of the lounge area – which is super cool – looking down into the work space. Three openings, lots of space, it’s almost Fast and Furious-like…

IMG_1527 copy

Right behind the balcony is a room that Jackie has been working on and painting, with plans to have TV’s and racing set ups in the near future… Which also mean me coming to play… Which may also lead to divorce. I don’t know yet.

IMG_1528 copy

Outside the other entrance is another small balcony to look down onto the other side.

IMG_1525 copy

And on the other side, couches to relax.

IMG_1522 copy

Looking down – the car getting on Jackie’s hoist for the first time.

IMG_1524 copy

The other side is a line up of some pretty cool cars. Some that you might recognize…

IMG_1529 copyIMG_1531 copy

Trung’s S2000 is probably familiar to lots of you, and of course, one of Alex’s 7 cars… Unless he acquired another 10 that I didn’t know about…

IMG_1533 copyIMG_1534 copy

Issac putting in work.

IMG_1543 copy

The first time I’ve actually seen the car up on a hoist lol

IMG_1544 copy

God, it’s so dirty. It’s been raining every other day the last few weeks so I’ve just given no f*cks.

IMG_1550 copy

Another shot of Alex’s S2000

Jackie’s 4Runner on Bronze TE37’s

IMG_1566 copy

This is what I believe everyone refers to as – “JTONG Money”. Curbs all his TE’s while offroading and doesn’t give a shit. MBN.

IMG_1556 copy

Liked this shot…

IMG_1558 copy

God, I can’t wait until you look better. Starting to get tired of this lol

IMG_1564 copy

Alex and Trung’s cars…

IMG_1537 copy

And just to end it off, another one of Jackie’s collections – his Tundra – AKA work truck to do work shit in.

Remember, his shop is not officially open yet, but swing by after August 8th and check him out! He’s doing good things and if you care about your car like the rest of us do, you’ll do the right thing.

Be back soon everyone! I promise to have something up by the end of next week!
