DTP 2011 Favourites… Part II

Since I saw that one of my top posts was DTP favourites from 2011, I thought I’d revisit it and share some other shots. I catered the original post to be around the cars mainly with GT wings because of my obsession with them. Trust me – if in some weird world, VIP cars existed with GT wings – I would be the first one to have it. However that is not the case, and I don’t foresee it ever being the case, so I have to admire other cars that have them now.

But as I was going through this – 2 years later – I am still at the same conclusion that I came to when I posted part 1 last year. It is that the automotive scene – only a province away – is much more evolved than ours today. Even 2 years after I’ve shot these cars, they were still ahead of the curve that we see here. There’s no cutting corners, everything is done right. You might even find that I’m writing a similar paragraph to the one in part 1, but I swear I didn’t read it again before writing this.

Truthfully, when we attended this show – you could see the differences in our group compared to the rest of the show. Subtle, minor modifications vs. aggressive and all out – which is something that is just catching on locally here IMO. There is a certain aesthetic value in creating a car with great parts in combination with each other and that just doesn’t happen all too often.

Anyway – I think I sound bitter because I’m jealous, not because I hate. Enjoy.

Here’s the first part I posted WAYYY back in April 2012.

CL63 AMG – one of my favourite from Mercedes. I saw one in the lot when we were looking for a GS for Punit and I wanted one so bad. The Ti exhaust on this was bad ass.

I also don’t usually dig the black on black, but this was pulled off nicely.

Honda CRZ on Spoon CR93’s. These were pretty new 2 years ago and I was pretty close to buying a set because they were quite affordable but they were too bland for my tastes.

370Z. I still love this.

GT G35. Love the look.

Matte black M3 on black Volk G2 wheels. I remember way back when they were rumored to be replacing the original TE37 with these… I was devastated cause I didn’t like them at all lol. Thank god they didn’t.

Speed Syndicate AE86. Love the color

VIP Merc. Now that I have a greater appreciation for VIP style – I can totally dig this. Not that I didn’t back then, but I love this even more now.

Super clean S14 on Meisters

Matt’s yellow Initial D-inspired FD. The white TE’s will look deadly on this.

The internet sensation bagged VIP-style Fit was also there.

M3. I forget the name of the company, but they did a lot of accent styling and cues which was different. Doesn’t work on many cars, but on all the BMW’s they brought out – they were nicely done.

EDIT: The company is MW Designs. Thanks Brad!

JP Scara’s – too crazy.

Finish! I want to go back…

Amuse-ing

I am literally killing myself over this everyday.

There is a black 370z fully loaded sitting at Land Rover Calgary right now that I want to go and drive and say “I’ll take it”. But I can’t because I have to wait until near the end of November for the car to go… and if it doesn’t go, then even longer. BRUTAL.

I’ve been looking at a bunch of Amuse stuff lately and you could say it’s like the J’s Racing of Nissan’s. Not to mention their exhaust sounds amazing… but you’ll break the bank really quick with their pieces. Well worth it though, I think.

Here are a few pics that I found while torturing myself. There’s also a bunch from a shop visit a member took there.

Man, I am a sucker for those colors…

Shop tour of Amuse begins here. I have a bunch on my home computer that I saved years ago that I found with high quality pictures of all their exhaust pieces and I can’t seem to find it on the net anymore. If I remember, I’ll post those up too.

Can I have just one of those?

Carbon doors.

Full straight pipe and a tiny muffler.

Closer look at the tip. So gangster.

One of their pieces on a 370z. So perfect!

Another piece. I believe this was for an M3…

And an Amuse 370z I found on the370.com in color specific galleries. This was the best one in there hands down.

I need one.

Pixel Cars!

Was bored all afternoon and decided I’d go ahead and make a pixelcar of the 370z. Can you tell I’m obsessed, yet?

I’ve done it for the Civic and the STI so I decided I’d give it a go on the 370. Not the best, but good enough. The crazy thing about it all is that it’s done in Microsoft Paint. I know. Believe it or not there are people that are absolutely insane with how good they can make their pixel cars look with hours of work into one car. It’s an art – from making the paint blend and with the correct shadows to where each line starts. Pixel by pixel and if you mess up even ONE pixel, it looks wrong. So while we make fun of Microsoft Paint, it’s crazy what you can do when working with an infinite amount of colors, a pixel pen, x8 zoom, and patience.

Changed it from yellow to white
Lowered it
Added camber
Added rear brake light
Added Amuse exhaust
Added Amuse body kit
Added Aerojacket spoiler
Added the closest looking wheel to Weds Kranze LXZ’s

Voila!

Weds Kranze LXZ Photoshop

I’m kind of obsessing over Weds Kranze LXZ’s right now. They just look so good with dish and it’s a different kind of wheel you don’t see all too often.

I’m sure the rears of a 370z could fit a 19×11 +10 without much issue and still have lots of dish depending on the disk. I’m personally not too familiar with Weds wheels but this one has to be one of their best.

I still think I might be getting ahead of myself since I don’t even have the car yet, but one day it’ll come. I’m really pushing for either white or black to come along, but so far no luck…

Anyways – I took a shot of the Amuse 370Z that HRE was using and photoshopped it. What do you guys think?

The original.

Wheels photoshopped on.

Lowered the car to a nice height.

Then tried changing the color of the center to a dark gunmetal. Not sure if I want to do a color or not or just stick with plain silver… I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. BUT it looks great on the LXZ’s.
