Tokyo Auto Salon – 86/BRZ Goodies

Some of the previews of what’s coming for TAS this year look promising – still a show I want to go to sometime at least once. Until that happens, I have to live vicariously through other peoples’ photos and posts.

I’m particularly excited about what’s showing for the 86/BRZ and as time goes on, the aftermarket offerings just get better and more innovative. Some are totally wild and crazy, some are super weird and odd, and then you have the tame and subtle. I love them all because it gives me inspiration of what I want my build to be. It’s nice to draw from different sources and put something together that becomes unique in your own way.

One of the latest previews/leaks I’ve seen have been the 14r60 Carbon Concept from Toyota. I would kill to have the 14r60 aero but so far only the swan neck GT wing is available at a hefty price of $4000. Once that rear bumper or front bumper become available, it’ll be on the top of my list to get.

While the other is the new Varis Kamikaze kit for the 86. These were the only photos posted by Varis and it essentially just plays off of the original widebody kit with  more aggressive canards, a bigger splitter, the Kamikaze swan neck wing and a new diffuser with a center exit exhaust. Just from these pics alone, it doesn’t look like much and it doesn’t seem to deviate too far from what the original widebody but there could be more to come. It just looks like they bolted on extra pieces and ruined the flow of the kit entirely but who am I to judge… I’ll never do the Varis widebody anyway.

If anyone goes to TAS, you’ll have to send me pics – including anything 86/BRZ related. It’s like Christmas to me seeing new parts for the platform!
